Bonaparte welcomes the Creature & Animatronics artist John Nolan!

“From a bench-pressing rodent to filling Jurassic World with dinos, John Nolan has been flying the physical effects flag for over a decade. Nolan is a master of creature effects, animatronics and practical effects – one of the greatest ever produced in his field in the UK. He cut his teeth on the Harry Potter franchise two decades ago, then went independent, started directing himself, and has been building creatures – animals, monsters, aliens, even people – ever since. His credits span from TV ads to famous TV credit sequences, to music videos – and movies."

We had the honour of presenting the Changing The Lens panel discussion at CICLOPE, with the Emmy-nominated director Coodie Rock and J.M. Harper – director/editor/co-founder of the Changing the Lens initiative.

The two filmmakers discussed the process behind the feature documentaries they have made together, with co-director, Chike Ozah, and editor, Max Allman.

BONAPARTE welcomes Mackenzie Sheppard!

Question: what do a travel show for aliens, Japan’s first female rugby squad and a man trapped in his own mobile phone have in common? Answer: Mackenzie Sheppard.

Sheppard is a hands-on director, deftly mixing filmic techniques from live action to VFX, 360 and animation and adding a dollop of magical whimsy. Trying to make sense of his international background and varied body of work, Shots sat down with Mack to learn more about his craft.

Bonaparte welcomes Andrew De Zen!

Andrew is a filmmaker with a focus on emotional storytelling and evocative, poetic visuals.

His love for film and stories also reaches into photography and animation, bringing a fresh editorial eye to his approach. He has gone on to work on several global brands such as Under Armour, SiriusXM, ESPN, Sony, Cadillac, Nike and IBM. Among those projects he directed the likes of pro swimmer Michael Phelps and pro boxer Anthony Joshua.

Andrew created, directed and produced a series of connected short films called "Of Walls & Mountains" which was shortlisted at the Young Director Awards at Cannes in 2018. His film "Places" for Alaskan Tapes was also shortlisted at Cannes and nominated for Best Video of The Year at the Juno Awards in 2019.

Kicking off our collaboration with Andrew was VZUG - Kitchen Stories. Produced by BONAPARTE, the series includes Swiss Architect, Valerio Olgiati and Formula 1 driver, Romain Grosjean. We worked closely with agency JvM Limmat to showcase kitchen perfection of VZUG’s excellence line.

BONAPARTE presented New York photographer and director Jac Martinez, and her beautiful work at Tete Gallery from June 2nd 5th, 2022. The exhibition was an honest beginning and exploration into a reminder of where we are from and who we are once a child, always a human. Boyhood is omnipresent, but not as a theme.

The exhibition consisted of 23 photographs as well as a projected film. BONAPARTE compiled the photographs in a newspaper-style zine.
